300 East 1st Flint, Michigan 48502 @ Flint Farmers’ Market
Tuesday, Thursday 8-6 Saturday 8-5 & Events
Update: Due to an unexpectedly cold winter, the grand opening planned for May has been delayed until June
The inside of the building will be ready as scheduled the first week in May, however, the outside pavilion will not be completed until several weeks later. This delay is due to the harsh winter conditions that have made it impossible to safely start construction of the new outside pavilion and the repaving of the large parking area.
Unfazed by this change, the current market will stay open until the end of Flower season, Saturday, June 14. This means that customers and vendors will be able to enjoy ONE MORE FULL FLOWER SEASON at the old market. Since the indoor portion of the market will be ready by the first week in May, the vendors will be busy on non-market days getting their new spaces ready for the grand opening.
While the market is open all year, the third weekend is June is actually the annual summer kick off weekend. By that weekend, flowers have wrapped up and Michigan produce is beginning to arrive, making it the ideal time for a Grand Opening.
"It makes more sense to open at the start of summer produce season rather than right in the middle of flower season, " said Dick Ramsdell, market manager, adding, "This gives everyone plenty of time to get ready for the new building but also time to say goodbye to the old one. What better way to celebrate the first day of summer than with the Grand Opening of a brand new version of Flint's historic market!"
